Background
Helen McNaught

Helen is the youngest of two sisters, (Lesley McNaught-Maendli is the winner of numerous medals for
Switzerland) The sisters started riding before they could walk, and jumping their ponies soon became a
passion.
After moving on from a successful start in pony jumpers, including competing for England on more than
one occasion, Helen moved to Ireland, where she continued her winning ways. Helen first worked for the
top Irish dealer Con McElroy before moving on to ride for Irish legend - Eddie Macken, whom Helen still
considers her mentor today. Whilst at the Macken stable Helen was one of the listed riders on the
Olympic Young Rider Training Squad as well as being short listed for the Jr. European Championships.
The next years would see Helen in Switzerland and Germany, where she had many wins with all types of
horses, winning everything from Grand Prix's to speed classes, Puissance's to young horse classes. In
Switzerland Helen started training the Swiss Junior Eventing Team and then while Helen was in Germany
she started training riders of all levels. These small lessons soon evolved into Helen training weekly
clinics at two different 'Clubs' with up to 45 riders a week! This progressed to Helen giving an 'Olympic
Star Spotters' clinic in England.
After having numerous successes in Europe both nationally and internationally, Helen moved to Florida in
early 2000. Winning with the Lassergut horses in both Florida and Europe.
2002 saw Helen move to California where she has now made her home.
For several years Helen ran the sales side of the Beverley Hills Equestrian Partners stables. Here not only
did Helen deal with the running of the barn and the sales side of 'B.H.E.P' but also trained the owner of the
barn and her three children to many successes, including: Indio, The Oaks, Show Park, Del Mar, LA,
Hickstead, Chester, Spruce Meadows, the list goes on.
Helen herself had numerous wins whilst with B.H.E.P on the dealing horses she imported from Europe,
and more notably with the super stallion 'Lexicon'.
After this Helen set up a very successful partnership with dealer John Endicott. Here she won numerous
prizes, with a variety of horses which were sent to her for sale, but also saw her horses go on to win with
the lucky clients who bought them.
This teaching 'talent' along with the ability of being able to ride horses of differing temperaments has
given Helen a long, successful career in many different countries. Helen returns to England annually to
give lessons and clinics.
Having trained with some of the best in the business (Eddie Macken - Ireland, Malcolm Pyrah - Great
Britain, Marcus Maendli - Switzerland, Ralf Runge - Germany) she brings with her a wealth of knowledge.
2009 saw Helen join forces with top New Zealand International Duncan McFarlane
This team have been a force to be reckoned with for the past 3 years, winning numerous classes both
North and South CA.
Their clients and horses are also benefiting from this meeting of minds and expertise as their results
show.
